About Gill International
What does Gill International do?
We design, source, and supply our own wholesale collections and bespoke customer labels for independent retailers and buying groups.
Where is Gill International based?
Gill International has operated out of Leicester, a traditional centre of the UK clothing trade, for over 40 years.
How does Gill International produce its collections?
We work with trusted manufacturers in Europe and Asia, and manage the design, sampling, and quality process ourselves to make sure every piece meets both our standards and our clients’ specifications.
Does Gill International have an in-house design team?
Yes, Gill International’s design team works from our Leicester headquarters, perfecting the fit and fabrication of every piece we make. They design and develop our in-house brands, and work closely with clients, creating custom specification packages and managing sample approvals for all private label orders.
Do you sell to the public?
No. Gill International is a wholesale business, and we supply retailers and buying groups only.
Private Label Development
What is private label clothing development?
Private label development is the process of creating a retailer’s own branded clothing collection, from initial design through to finished, packaged stock ready for their shelves or website.
What is the difference between private label and Gill International’s in-house brands?
Private label collections are clothing lines designed by the customer under their own brand name. We use your specifications and approvals to develop your pieces with our manufacturing partners, typically with minimum order quantities of 300 units or more.
Gill International’s in-house brands, Nina Murati and Hepburn, are different: they’ve been carefully designed to demonstrate the best skills of our manufacturing partners and reflect current seasonal trends. These cannot be white-labelled for a customer, but are available in much smaller quantities, with minimum orders of 4 to 24 units depending on the style.
How does the private label process work with Gill International?
First, get in touch and let us know approximately what designs and how many units you’re looking for. Next, you’re invited to our showroom, where you can view the season’s top styles, select ones close to what you’d like to produce, and talk through your plans with us in person.
Our design team then determines the right manufacturer for the job and builds a spec pack, before moving into sampling. Customers are always sent samples for approval before we move into bulk production, and if multiple fit samples are needed, our team works closely with both the customer and manufacturer to make sure quality and measurements are right. From there, the product moves into production, where we can also handle importing before shipping to your final delivery location.
What is the minimum order quantity for private label?
Our minimum order quantity for private label development is approximately 300 pieces per style, though this can vary depending on the style, and how many colours and sizes are required.
How long does private label production take?
Once samples are approved, bulk production typically takes 6 to 8 weeks, plus around 35 days for sea freight shipping. Sampling happens before this and can take 1 to 3 months, depending on the complexity of the design and how many rounds of samples are required.
How far in advance should I place a private label order?
For autumn orders that ship in August or September, we recommend arranging your showroom meeting for January or February. For spring orders that ship in February or March, we recommend arranging your showroom meeting for June or July. This allows adequate time for selecting fabrics, arranging multiple fit samples, and mitigating any delays in manufacturing or shipping.
Can Gill International develop a collection from scratch, or do I need my own designs?
We can develop a collection from scratch using our in-house design team, working from your brief, or work from your own designs and specifications if you already have them. Our designers can fully develop spec packs, or can work with your existing specs to inform the manufacturer.
Who owns the designs in a private label collection?
You do. Any collection developed under your own brand name belongs to you. And once you select a style from our showroom to develop, we withdraw it from other customers, so the pieces you build your collection around stay yours.
Do you offer sampling before bulk production?
Yes. Customers are always sent samples to approve before we move into bulk production, and we can arrange multiple rounds of fit samples if changes are needed.
Can you produce branded labels, swing tags, and barcodes for a private label collection?
Yes. We can produce labels, swing tags, barcodes, and other branded finishings so your collection arrives ready to go straight onto the shop floor.
Do you provide compliance and testing documentation?
We can provide any compliance or testing documentation you require, arranged on a per-project basis. Just let us know your requirements as part of the initial brief. If you’re unsure what documentation you need, we can help you work out which standards and testing apply.
Our Brands: Nina Murati and Hepburn
What are Gill International’s brands?
Gill International has two in-house wholesale womenswear brands, Nina Murati and Hepburn, with Forever One sitting under Hepburn.
Nina Murati is Gill’s premium wholesale womenswear label. Built on precise construction, quality fabrications, and considered design, it is clothing made to exacting standards at an accessible price point. The Italian collection shares a distinct European perspective, while the import collection features luxurious detailing, for a truly versatile range. Nina Murati is designed in the UK and produced with partners in both Italy and Asia.
Hepburn is Gill’s casual wholesale womenswear range designed for everyday life. The delightfully broad collection spans classic basics, seasonal favourites, and wearable trends, for a combination of reliability and freshness, season on season.
Forever One by Hepburn is our unique range of printed and embellished tops made fresh each season to reflect new trends with a classic fit and wide range of prints. Our popular Wool-Touch tops, along with our burnout and slub T-shirts, give this range its universal appeal.
Can I order Nina Murati or Hepburn directly?
Yes, both brands are available to order through our dedicated wholesale site at ninamurati.com. Alternatively, you can contact us directly by phone or email to request a collection preview.
What are the minimum order quantities for Nina Murati and Hepburn?
Nina Murati has minimums of 4 to 6 units per style. Hepburn minimums are 6 to 24 units, depending on the number of colours in each pack. There’s no minimum order value, so you’re free to order as few or as many styles as suit your shop.
Do you offer exclusivity on Nina Murati and Hepburn?
Yes. Every application to register with us, whether you order at a show or through our website, is checked against existing stockists to ensure there aren’t any direct competitors in your local area.
Do you offer white labelling on Gill brand products?
No. Nina Murati, Hepburn, Forever One, and inara loungewear products are only available to purchase wholesale. However, we’re happy to work with you using our designs as a jumping off point to develop unique styles. For more information, see the section above on Private Label Development.
What sizes do you offer?
Most of our own label styles come in S, M, L, and XL. Some pieces in the Nina Murati Italian range are one size, and sizing across the Nina Murati range varies between two and four sizes depending on the style. For private label development, we can produce to any size range you need.
What types of garments do you make?
Our collections cover womenswear across dresses, tops and blouses, knitwear, jersey, trousers, skirts, coords, and outerwear.
Can I reorder a style once I’ve sold through it?
Yes, styles can be reordered for as long as they remain in stock.
How long does shipping take after an order is placed?
For stock items, processing takes 1 to 3 days, though most orders placed before 11am ship the same day.
For forward orders placed at trade shows or in advance, you’ll be given an approximate ship date. This is usually August to October for autumn orders, and January to March for spring orders.
We use FedEx Priority shipping across England, Scotland, and Wales, which usually arrives the day after the goods have been shipped. For orders to Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands, and the Channel Islands, alternative shipping methods may be used, but your order will still get to you as quickly as possible.
Can you supply product imagery for my website?
We don’t supply product imagery or copy as standard, but if you need assets for an online listing, let us know and we’ll see what we can arrange.
